The concept for the Inter-Reservoirs Transfer Scheme (IRTS) is to provide a tunnel connection transferring surplus overflow from the Kowloon Group of Reservoirs (KGR) to the Lower Shing Mun Reservoir (LSMR). The proposed IRTS in association with Lai Chi Kok drainage tunnel will conserve precious water resources by reducing and transferring the overflow from KGR to LSMR and allow optimization of the drainage tunnel size to be constructed under the Lai Chi Kok drainage tunnel project to alleviate flood risk in the Lai Chi Kok of Kowloon.
The works include construction of a water tunnel of about 2.8 km with 3m diameter from the Kowloon Byewash Reservoir (KBR) of KGR to the
LSMR and the associated intake and outfall structures at both ends of the tunnel.

The scope of our services included:

a) Tunnelling works, including design, supply, delivery and assembly of tunnel boring machine (TBM), design and construction of tunnel lining, tunnel excavation and ground treatment;
b) Construction of intake and outfall structures at KBR and LSMR respectively, including all necessary slope stabilisation works and temporary works;
c) E&M works, including design, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of the electrical actuated penstock and the automatic flow control system;
d) Slope upgrading works for slope nos. 7SW-D/C27 and 7SWD/C28;
e) Landscaping works;
f) Enhancement works at Kam Shan Country Park, including design, supply, delivery and installation of the proposed educational and recreational facilities; and
g) Road paving works.
