The CX Cargo Terminal is the world’s biggest facility of its kind, and designed to maximise the usage of the 10 hectare site area to provide high land use efficiency of over 25 tonnes per sqm. It will be equipped with a state-of-the-art Materials Handling System (MHS). The cargo terminal is designed to deliver an annual capacity of 2.6 million tonnes throughput and has a construction floor area of 246,000m² and a Container Storage System (CSS) for 2,445 storage positions. To ensure expedite transfer of goods, the building is equipped with facilities for government departments to station such as C&ED, AFCD, FEHD and Police Department. Meinhardt provided building services design for all facilities in the cargo terminal including MHS/BHS/CSS, computer server rooms, offices, canteen for the building and also facilities for the government departments such as bulk X-ray machine, retention room etc.
